Over the last decade, Iceland has seen incredible development in tourism infrastructure, strengthening the country’s position as a world-class MICE destination.
New hotels, venues, activities, improved accessibility, and infrastructure around Iceland’s natural wonders have rapidly transformed the destination in recent years — and exciting new additions continue to emerge for Iceland lovers and event planners alike.
Now, even more impressive developments are being introduced in Iceland: world-class hotels set in unique natural surroundings and a brand-new gala venue perfectly suited for large-scale events.
This May, a brand-new venue located at Reykjavík Harbour will open its doors for events.

The new event space, named VÖR, takes its name from the Icelandic word meaning “safe harbour” or “landing place for boats.” During the summer months, VÖR will operate as a turnaround terminal for cruise ships, while from October through April the venue will be dedicated exclusively to large-scale events.

Located on the waterfront overlooking the historic island of Viðey, VÖR introduces exciting new possibilities for larger groups and events in Iceland.

The venue offers approximately 5,500 m² of flexible event space, accommodating up to 2,000 guests for standing receptions and 900 guests for seated gala dinners. The new addition gives planners even more options when considering welcome receptions, gala dinners, conferences, and special events in Iceland.
Conveniently located less than 10 minutes from Reykjavík city centre and the city’s main hotels, VÖR is expected to become a key addition to Iceland’s growing MICE landscape.
A beautiful new 4-star boutique property has recently opened its doors to guests. Strategically located close to Reykjavík, Keflavík International Airport, and many of Iceland’s most iconic natural attractions, the hotel offers the perfect blend of accessibility, comfort, and nature.

The new 79-room property features elegant rooms with stunning views over Iceland’s dramatic black sand coastline. The hotel is ideal for small and medium-sized incentive groups and is also perfectly suited for exclusive buyouts.

Adding to the experience, the hotel’s head chef is a member of the Icelandic national culinary team competing in the prestigious Bocuse d'Or — ensuring guests can expect an exceptional dining experience throughout their stay.
A new and truly unique project is currently underway in Iceland — and this is no ordinary hotel development.

Built directly into a mountain and surrounded by breathtaking scenery and geothermal nature baths, this extraordinary 5-star mountain retreat is set to become one of Iceland’s most unique luxury properties. Offering 40 stunning suites alongside access to healing geothermal baths, the property will combine immersive nature, wellness, and luxury in an unforgettable setting.

The hotel will be located near Háifoss, one of Iceland’s tallest waterfalls, which recently gained international attention after appearing in the final episode of Stranger Things.

Its remote and spectacular location will allow MICE guests to discover a side of Iceland few international visitors have experienced before — combining luxury hospitality with untouched nature and exclusive adventure opportunities.
Atlantik looks forward to telling you more about VÖR and the latest MICE developments in Iceland at the A630 Euromic Stand and the B220 Iceland Stand.
