How can you help the environment, support the local Frankfurt community, and join the fight against human trafficking—all during IMEX Frankfurt?
It’s simple. Pack an old mobile phone.
This year, Maritz has partnered with Interzero to recycle and refurbish used mobile devices, including phones and tablets. 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Frauenrecht ist Menschenrecht (FIM), a Frankfurt based charity supporting victims and survivors of human trafficking. The initiative is delivered in partnership with Protect All Children from Human Trafficking (PACT).
Why your old phone matters
Millions of unused smartphones are sitting in desk drawers around the world. Reusing these devices helps conserve valuable raw materials—such as precious metals—while significantly reducing carbon emissions.
According to a study by Fraunhofer UMSICHT, reusing a single smartphone can save 14 kilograms of resources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 58 kilograms. Interzero’s Collect4Nature recovery system ensures each device is processed to deliver the greatest possible environmental and social benefit.
Help fight human trafficking at IMEX Frankfurt
If you have an old mobile phone or tablet—ideally less than six years old—bring it with you to IMEX Frankfurt and drop it off at Maritz/DRPG booth B710. A Collect4Nature donation box will be waiting.
Before donating, please make sure:
- The device is undamaged
- The security code is disabled
- You’re logged out of all accounts
In line with GDPR requirements, Interzero can securely wipe any remaining data on donated devices.
Supporting Frauenrecht ist Menschenrecht (FIM)
Founded in Frankfurt am Main in 1980, Frauenrecht ist Menschenrecht (FIM) provides counseling and reintegration services for survivors of human trafficking across the state of Hesse. In recognition of its long standing commitment to human rights and integration, FIM received the Integration Prize of the City of Frankfurt am Main in 2014.
To learn more about FIM and its work, stop by the Maritz/DRPG booth to meet Tanja Wunderlich. As a local partner charity of ECPAT Europe, FIM plays a critical role in supporting survivors within the community.
A continuing commitment to action
This initiative builds on previous industry efforts. At IMEX America last year, participants donated 80 pounds of old jewelry to Maritz, which was repurposed in partnership with Monarch Jewelry. Since then, an additional 187 pounds has been collected and recycled at industry and partner events across the US.
For Maritz, the fight against human trafficking is long standing. Since 2012, an employee led committee has focused on fundraising, awareness and partnerships with local organizations in host destinations. In 2025, this commitment expanded with the creation of the Fight Against Human Trafficking Industry Collaborative, bringing together industry partners to drive collective action. That same year, Maritz received the PACT Freedom Award in recognition of its sustained leadership.
PACT is affiliated with ECPAT International, a global network dedicated to ending the sexual exploitation and trafficking of children worldwide.
Small action. Lasting impact.
By donating an old mobile device, you can help turn waste into resources—supporting survivors of trafficking, reducing environmental impact, and giving back to the local Frankfurt community.
Bring your old mobile phones and tablets to the Maritz/DRPG booth B710 at IMEX Frankfurt and join the fight against human trafficking.
