Poland’s meetings and events sector continues to strengthen its sustainable offer, with 60 Green Key certified hotels now operating across the country’s key business events destinations. The growing presence of internationally recognised environmentally certified properties reflects rising market expectations around sustainability, ESG compliance, and responsible event delivery.
Green Key is one of the most widely recognised international environmental certifications in the hospitality sector. It confirms that a hotel has implemented measurable and auditable standards in areas such as energy and water management, waste reduction, responsible procurement, and environmental education. For event planners, agencies, and conference organisers, the certification is not only a visible sign of environmental responsibility, but also a practical tool for designing events in line with client sustainability requirements and corporate ESG policies.
The largest concentration of Green Key certified hotels is in Warsaw, where 19 properties currently hold the certification. As Poland’s largest conference market, the capital offers the broadest portfolio across premium, business, and economy segments, including major conference hotels, airport properties, and centrally located lifestyle hotels. This confirms Warsaw’s leading role not only in terms of infrastructure and accessibility, but also in sustainable hospitality.
Kraków ranks second with 9 certified hotels, underlining its established position as one of Central Europe’s leading congress cities. The city’s certified portfolio includes a wide mix of international, premium, and lifestyle brands. The Tricity area follows with 8 Green Key certified hotels across Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Sopot, further strengthening its appeal as a destination combining business events infrastructure with coastal location advantages. Wrocław, one of Poland’s fastest-growing MICE markets, currently offers 6 certified hotels.
Other major business event destinations are also building their sustainable accommodation base. Poznań has 4 Green Key certified hotels, while Katowice and the Silesia region also account for 4 properties. Szczecin is represented by 2 certified hotels, and a further 6 hotels are located in other cities, including Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Częstochowa, Cieszyn, Jelenia Góra, Karpacz, Łódź, Polanica-Zdrój, Bielsko-Biała, and Rzeszów, demonstrating that sustainable hospitality is expanding beyond Poland’s main metropolitan markets.

From the perspective of international hotel groups, the strongest representation among Green Key certified hotels in Poland is held by Accor, which accounts for 37 certified properties across brands such as Mercure, Novotel, ibis Styles, Sofitel, and MGallery. This makes Accor the clear market leader in terms of environmentally certified hotel supply within Poland’s meetings industry. Marriott International follows with 7 certified hotels, represented by brands including Renaissance, Courtyard by Marriott, Sheraton, Moxy, and Autograph Collection.
Other international operators are also present within Poland’s Green Key portfolio. Leonardo Hotels and IHG Hotels & Resorts each account for 4 properties, while Hilton, Radisson Hotel Group, Nobu Hospitality, and Qubus further expand the list of certified operators active on the Polish market. This diversified structure reflects both the scale of investment in Poland’s hotel sector and the increasing adoption of sustainability standards across different market segments.
An important milestone in strengthening Poland’s international profile as a sustainable meetings destination will be the GDS-Forum and Impact Day 2026, which will be held for the first time in Poland, in Szczecin, from 16 to 18 June 2026. Hosted in the city known as the “Floating Garden”, the event will provide an opportunity to present Poland’s evolving approach to business events.
Through destinations such as Szczecin, and through the growing network of Green Key certified hotels, Poland seeks to demonstrate how its cities are regenerating, transforming, and creating event experiences that deliver tangible value for delegates, local communities, and destinations alike.
